FRM 3 repair:

Minis and BMWs from 2008 to 2014 are often equipped with an FRM3 module.

It is also called Footwell Module, Leg Module, Lighting Module, NFRM, FRM or FRM3R. This module controls the car’s lighting, central locking and electric windows.

This is a common problem with:

Airbag seat sensor (Airbag fault):

The seat sensor detects whether a passenger is present in the car. Most BMW & Minis from the last 15 years are equipped with this sensor.

The function of this sensor is:

Passenger seatbelt alarm control
Activate passenger airbag. This airbag will only deploy if there is a passenger in the vehicle.
This is a common problem with:
1 Series E81 E82 E87 E88 F20 F21
2 Series F22 F23 F46
3 Series E90 E91 E92 E93 F30 F31 F34 F34 F80
4 Series F32 F33 F36 F82 F83

X5 E70 F15
X6 E71 F16
X3 F25
and all kinds of Mini models including R56, R57, R58, R59, R60

ELV (Electronic Steering Lock):

Many e-series BMWs and Minis from 2004 to 2013 are equipped with an electronic steering lock. The official German name for this is ELV (Electric Lenkungsverriegelung).

This steering lock can malfunction, so that in some cases the car will not even start.
